A Reflection on the Relationship between History and Education

Abstract

The relation between History and Education is complex to explain since it has several perspectives from which it can be analyzed. For the purpose concerning this article, we worked from a theoretical perspective and historical context to place the reader at the moment in which History and Education are intertwined. In other words, the research question that guides this work is: How is History expressed in Education? In order to answer the question, authors such as Lucien Febvre and Joseph Fontana were cited, who reflected on the concept of History and its transformations. On the other side, the contributions of the historians Rosemarie Terán and Guadalupe Soasti were taken, who carry out an analysis of the discourses of History and its relationship with education at different times. The connection between these authors allows us to understand that, despite the fact that the concept of History has been transformed in the different historiographical schools, the same has not happened in primary and secondary schools.
