Abstract

This article will demonstrate how the EPC methodology allows for the strengthening and enrichment of competency-based teaching of philosophy, as required by the curriculum guidelines of the subject in Colombia. EPC presents itself as an effective pedagogical approach to facilitate the learning of philosophy by promoting a deep understanding of concepts and the transfer of knowledge to new situations through the use of thinking skills and structured class sessions. These sessions begin with an exploration of prior knowledge, followed by a process of inquiry and consultation, and culminate in the appropriation of knowledge. This methodology aligns with the demands of the curriculum guidelines, which aim to generate meaningful learning and critical thinking by applying philosophical concepts to real-life scenarios. Therefore, through qualitative research and a case study, the applicability of EPC in the teaching of philosophy will be examined.
