This bibliometric study maps the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and educational leadership, revealing an exponentially growing field marked by significant theoretical and geographical gaps. Based on an analysis of 147 Scopus articles (2018–2025) using Biblioshiny and VOSviewer, the findings indicate that scientific output is concentrated in the Global North, with an intellectual structure where AI technology predominates over the conceptualization of leadership itself. The study identifies a critical literature gap regarding the ethical and practical dilemmas educational leaders face when implementing AI, particularly in underrepresented contexts. It concludes that leadership is a determinant yet undertheorized factor for the effective and equitable integration of AI. Consequently, the study proposes a future research agenda focused on developing critical, ethical, and contextualized leadership frameworks for the digital age.
